This stunning decaf is so good, it had to become a staple on our menu. We hope to always have this Colombian EA process roasted two ways on our menu. This is the lighter version (ideal for filter brewing), and for a bolder offer that extracts decaf more easily as an espresso, check out our darker roast of the same lot.
You can also find this light decaf in our half caf called the Zen Blend.

What's the EA process?
Washed coffees are delivered milled to the decaffeination plant where they are first steamed to remove silver skin before being moistened to open the pores of the seeds. The seeds are then submerged in a sugarcane-derived ethyl acetate solution which strips the caffeine into the solution.
It is then steamed again to remove the ethyl acetate. As the coffee is still wet, it is dried again to achieve the desired moisture content.

The Monkaaba producer group
A smallholder coffee grower empowerment initiative whose goal is to assist other growers in the area to not only find a better market for their coffee, one that pays a solid price, but also to invest in the knowledge and skill of producers in a way that ensures their future success while making them more autonomous.

We release many regular coffee from the group throughout the year and they are always delicious!

An amazing lightly roasted decaf that you can chug at ANY moment of the day? That's exactly right!

This decaf is bright and silky, with a beautiful clementine like acidity.
The dried apricot notes make the coffee very sweet, and the hazelnut and chocolate notes gives this coffee a long and pleasant finish.

Maybe we are crazy, and maybe we happened to eat to many chocolatines here (aka pain au chocolate) but we are convinced this coffee tastes like one ;-)

This coffee can make a good espresso, but if you prefer lattes and cappuccinos, we feel that the darker version of the same beans will be more to your liking!
