This is our second coffee from Marleny. Her pink bourbon was a huge success that we had to share her gesha varietal with you.

Cherries are collected every twenty days and are depulped the same day. The depulped seeds are then left to ferment for 40 hours in a tile tank, before being dried in a raised dryer for 18-20 days.

Marleny and her husband Augusto Ortega are life-long coffee producers, founding members of the Monkaaba group, and veritable pillars in the San Agustin coffee growing community.

Their involvement and leadership has been key in encouraging other producers to work with Semilla and to invest in seeking long term, durable relationships that grant autonomy and agency to producers who are so often prone to being taken advantage of by a coffee buying system that seeks to extract wealth while keeping the growers themselves in the dark.

Make sure to taste Marleny's brother in law, Angel Ortega's, Gesha.

This coffee is just so good, and we recommend it mostly as a black filter coffee due to it being relatively light and delicate compared to most of our offering.

We noticed flower in the aroma, and chamomile is what we tasted in the cup, mostly in the aftertaste.
The coffee is sweet like light caramel and vanilla, and the acidity reminded us of nectarine.
